Harris County launches app to report road issues

HOUSTON

An "app" for Apple devices is expected to be launched next month. The existing Android app was downloaded 54 times as of last week, resulting in five service requests.

Harris County Judge Ed Emmett says this is an example of Houston's government being on the cutting edge of technology. A user can photograph an issue, point to it on a map or allow GPS technology to pinpoint its location, label the problem and then submit it to the county.

The app has received a Best of Texas award from the Center for Digital Government.
