A Rice spokesperson says an ammonia leak occurred at the Dell Butcher Hall science building on the north side of campus shortly after 1pm. Ruy Lozano with the Houston Fire Department said a 200 pound canister of ammonia sprung a leak in a classroom.
The entire building was evacuated during the clean up.
A few students were exposed to the ammonia, but they were checked out and were unhurt.
