Police: Man shoots wife 7 times, before killing self

THE WOODLANDS, TX

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies were called to the couple's home on Degas Park around 8pm.

A female victim was on the phone with dispatchers, telling them that she could hear deputies at the door and her husband had shot her and she could not get to the door.

Deputies forced open the door to the residence and found Linda Terry, 59, in the master bedroom and she had been shot at least seven times. Her husband, Billy Terry, 60, was found in another bedroom dead with a single gunshot to the chest.

Linda was taken by helicopter to Hermann Hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.

< The couple's daughter talked to deputies.

"Daughter said that he had been out of work for a couple of years and had some medical problems recently," said Lt. Bill Bucks with the Montgomery County Sherriff's Office. "He has been a little distraught over that but nothing that would lead her to believe anything like this would occur here."

Linda is a nurse and recently accepted a new job. She called her daughter right before the shooting.

Investigators believe that this incident is an attempted homicide/suicide. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit, Crime Lab, Texas Rangers and District Attorney's Office are investigating.
