BAE reaches settlement with man it fired allegedly for being fat

SEALY, TX

We first talked to /*Ronald Kratz*/ last fall, when the government sued BAE on his behalf. He says he couldn't believe what he was hearing when he was let go.

"The HR representative's exact words were 'We're letting you go because of your weight.' I said, 'You're really letting me go?' She said Yes. I asked about a demotion and she said no we're letting you go at this time," Kratz told us.

Kratz weighed 600 pounds when he was fired. Since then, he's lost more than 300.

In the settlement, BAE didn't admit to any wrong doing, but did agree to pay Kratz $55,000 and give him six months of out placement services.

It also agreed to train company managers on disability discrimination laws, and post an anti-discrimination notice.
