Astros trade Brett Myers to White Sox

HOUSTON

It's out with the old and in with the new as General Manager Jeff Luhnow continues to rebuild the Astros farm system.

Relief pitcher Brett Myers is the latest trade. The Astros sent Myers to the White Sox for two minor league pitchers and a player to be named later.

Myers had 19 saves and a 3.52 ERA for the Astros this season and will try to bolster an inexperienced Chicago bullpen.

Houston receives right-hander Matt Heidenreich, 21, and left-hander Blair Walters, 22. Both are starting pitchers.

The Astros will also pay part of Myers' remaining salary.

As the Astros rebuild, no one is off limits.
