It happened around 3am Friday at the Indigo Falls Apartments in the 9800 block of Ledge near the Gulf Freeway at Clearwood.
Police said Jerry Gray Napper, 35, of Pasadena, was in his vehicle at the apartment complex when he was shot several times in the torso by an unknown person.
Napper managed to drive out of the apartment complex and into the street before he stopped and fell out of his car, investigators said. A passing motorist saw him and called 911.
According to authorities, Napper was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There is no known motive in this shooting. Witnesses reported seeing someone, described only as a black male, jump into the passenger seat of a maroon vehicle which then fled the scene.
