Charge filed in north Harris Co. hotel murder case

HOUSTON

John Gregory Gammon is charged with murder in connection to the June 4 death of 40-year-old Jason Windham, according to Houston police.

Detectives say Windham and his girlfriend were staying at a hotel in the 700 block of North Sam Houston Parkway East when Gammon and several other men knocked on the door of their room. Windham answered and the men forced their way into the room. Then during a struggle, Gammon shot Windham.

Windham was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives did not state provide a motive or specify if the two may even knew each other.

Gammon was already in the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges when detectives identified him as the primary suspect in the murder case.
