This happened on 59 North near the George R. Brown Convention Center at around 11pm. Houston police say the victim was attempting to run across the Eastex Freeway when he was struck by a green Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck traveling northbound.
The victim, Cleveland Miles, Jr., 69, of Humble, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment. The driver is not expected to face charges.
Police say the investigation is continuing.
