According to the Galveston County Daily News, the Coast Guard has seized 31,000 pounds of shrimp in the past week.
The catch is valued at $69,000. It will be sold and the proceeds held in escrow until the investigation is complete.
State waters are closed to shrimping part of each year to protect against overfishing.
