Prayer session, vigil to be held on 3rd anniversary of man's murder

Authorities are seeking the public's help identifying the suspect in this case. On July 3, 2009,the 35-year-old's body was discovered on the living room floor of his apartment located near the 500 block of Wells Fargo. He was shot in the middle of the day. His place was ransacked but nothing appeared to be stolen.

"There just aren't any indications that was engaging in any high-risk activity. He was at home, he was inside his apartment, he was grad student getting his master's degree at a fine unversity. Someone who was working, had friends, was cared about," Crime Stoppers spokeswoman Katherine Cabaniss said.

Washington was last seen alive at approximately 8:30am the same morning.

Washington, who worked for Halliburton, was pursuing a Masters Degree at the University of Houston when he was killed.

"Nothing that points to a motive. Certainly, they'd like to know any information about who committed this crime or why they did it. This is one of those cases that we know that there's someone who did this murder," Cabaniss said.

That's why family, friends and members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office are hoping the vigil will jog someone's memory.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for any information called in to the 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at that leads to the filing of felony charges or arrest of the suspect(s) in this case.
