No Houston Zoo 'First Tuesday' free in July, August

HOUSTON

We first told you last month that the zoo canceled its free admission offer for the first Tuesdays in July and August. Today was the first day that went into effect.

Zoo officials say the offer created so much traffic congestion, it blocked emergency vehicles that were trying to get to two nearby trauma centers.

Free first Tuesdays go back into effect in September.

The Houston Zoo is located at 6200 Hermann Park Drive in Hermann Park. The Zoo is open daily from 9am to 6pm during Central Standard Time (last admission at 5pm) and from 9am until 7pm during Central Daylight Time (last admission at 6pm). The Zoo is closed Christmas Day. Regular admission is $13 for adults, $7 for seniors, $9 for children ages 2-11 and FREE for children under 2.
