City of Houston: Woman in NE Houston contracts West Nile virus

HOUSTONS

The person who contracted the virus is a female between the ages of 55 and 74 and is from northeast Houston.

City of Houston Health Department Porfirrio Villareal says the woman has not died but the city didn't specify her condition. West Nile is a potentially serious illness spread by mosquitos.

The health department was just made aware of this case Thursday evening.

No other details were immediately available.
