Pride festival, parade celebrate local LGBT community

HOUSTON

The theme for the 34th annual Houston LGBT Pride Celebration was "Live Out Proud."

The parade went down Westheimer Road between Dunlavy and Crocker. Around 300,000 people participated, making it the second largest parade in Houston and the largest Pride Parade or LGBT gathering in the Southwestern U.S.

The 2012 Celebrity Grand Marshal was Mason Hildebrand of Bravo's hit reality series "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles."

Before the parade, organizers had a day of events planned at the Pride Festival from 1 to 7pm. The festival featured live music and exhibits like the Houston Dynamo Kids' Zone, the Walgreens Health and Wellness Pavilion and the Houston LGBT History Exhibit in cooperation with Rice University.
