Police: Woman on jury duty called in fake bomb threat

HOUSTON

According to court documents, on Tuesday morning Cynthia Creed sent a co-worker a text message reading "Call the courthouse. Tell them there is a bomb...please."

The co-worker, who believed the threat was real, called the police.

About 15 minutes later, Creed sent another text reading, "Just kidding."

By then, bomb-sniffing dogs were searching the building at 1201 Congress, which is the jury assembly building for Harris County. Jurors and employees were evacuated.

Creed, 51, is charged with giving a false police report. Authorities say Creed was genuinely sorry about the prank but couldn't really explain why she did it. She had been released from jury duty at 10:30am and sent the first text at 11:43am.
