It happened around 11am in the 12100 block of White Cap Lane at Beech Cove in southwest Houston.
Police said the 25-year-old victim was in the driveway when a vehicle drove up and fired at least four shots.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condtion with wounds to the head and torso.
Neighbors describe the victim as a "good guy" and the father of a four-year-old son who lived with him. It's unclear whether the child was home at the time of the shooting.
