The wreck happened at around 2:30pm Friday on the Sam Houston Tollway West just north of W. Little York, near the Central Plaza.
Precinct 5 deputies say an oil tanker truck was traveling southbound on the Beltway West in the left lane and when a red compact vehicle made a rapid change of lanes. The truck hit the passenger vehicle and rolled over it.
A three-year-old boy was killed, and his parents were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, deputies say.
The truck driver wasn't injured in the wreck.
Crews had closed some of the tollway's lanes until they detectives could finish their investigation and clear the scene.
