On May 27, the woman went to Cubes, a night club in the 9600 block of Bissonnet. She told police that a man she knows as "Alphabet" came over to her outside the club, began telling her how beautiful she was and touching her. She reportedly turned down his advances and walked away.
According to court documents, the man continued to approach her, and when she again turned to walk away, he allegedly punched her in the face. The woman told police the man then pulled a gun and shot her. She ran inside the night club and collapsed.
The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with a gunshot wound to her torso. Her liver, colon and kidney were damaged by the bullet. She was still hospitalized as of June 5.
Court documents state that police located a known gang member, who goes by the street name Alphabet and hangs out near the Cubes night club. He has been identified as Adrian Sipsey, 31.
The victim immediately identified Sipsey in the photo lineup police presented her at the hospital's intensive care unit. Police say she then broke down into tears saying, "Don't let him get me."
Sipsey has been charged with aggravated assault. Bail has been set at $20,000.
