Charles Leonard Woods was awaiting trial for a continuous sexual assault of a child charge when he was allegedly caught with the illegal images.
According to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Woods took a 13-year-old girl to a motel off the Gulf Freeway in 2008 where he had sex with her and took inappropriate photos and videos.
The girl spoke out to authorities last year and Woods was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child in February.
He was arrested and released about a week later after posting $100,000 bail.
At the time of Woods' arrest, investigators found multiple computers and thumb drives in his possession. Forensic examinations revealed numerous illegal photos and videos of minors, and he was charged Friday with 16 counts of possession of child pornography.
Woods was being held at Harris County Jail on Saturday without bond. He is set to appear in court Tuesday.
