Bodies of 2 murdered men found in Maverick County

EAGLE PASS, TX

Chief Deputy Ruben Cano tells the San Antonio Express-News one of the men had a large cut on his neck, was wrapped in plastic bags and appeared to have been killed somewhere else. The other is believed to have been killed at the canal near Eagle Pass.

Drug cartel violence is common across the border from the county and Eagle Pass is a known smuggling point for the Mexican Mafia prison gang but Cano says homicides are rare in Maverick County, with only one or two a year.
