A witness said the vehicle ran a red light at Westheimer and Chimney Rock just before 5pm.
The SUV hit a second car, pushing that vehicle into a third car.
Three people were trapped inside the SUV. Firefighters used ropes to pull it back upright and rescue them.
One person in the SUV and one person in one of the other cars were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
