A judge in Fort Stockton sentenced 41-year-old Luis Bustamante Orona.
The Fort Stockton man was convicted of murder in last July's slaying of 25-year-old Mayra Orona.
The victim was a convenience store manager and investigators say she was attacked outside the business. Police say the couple had a history of domestic violence.
A jury in March convicted Orona, who opted to have a judge sentence him. Orona faced up to life in prison when he was formally sentenced Thursday.
