Dallas police halt routine dash cam video reviews

DALLAS, TX

Chief David Brown says discipline was not the intent. Brown started the reviews last spring to make sure routine incidents, not just high profile cases, were being monitored.

The Dallas Morning News reported Sunday that Brown has ordered the department to consider what can be done to ensure the reviews are fair and reasonable.

About 150 incidents were reviewed. Some officers were commended.

Suspected criminal acts were referred to the public integrity unit. Minor police violations were forwarded to supervisors.

The Latino Peace Officers Association objected to officers disciplined for driving over the speed limit while responding to calls for help from other officers.
