Former UH and current NFL star gives back to alma mater

HOUSTON

According to UH, Stanford Routt, a cornerback with the Kansas City Chiefs has made a significant donation to the school's athletics sports medicine staff to help provide care for student athletes.

"Stanford has always been so generous to us here at Houston and we are just so honored by his donation to our department," Head Athletics Trainer Michael O'Shea said in a press release issued Thursday. "We had a very generous gift from Donnie Avery (Indianapolis Colts) last year and to have Stanford reach out to provide us with the opportunity to upgrade our equipment and supplies impacts each of our student-athletes here at UH."

Routt was a second-round draft pick in 2005 out of UH, and played seven seasons with Oakland before signing a free agent deal with Kansas City this past offseason.
