Crews were called to the Saint Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church on Sampson around 9:30am Sunday.
According to officials, an air conditioner caught on fire.
The fire was put out and fans were brought in to remove smoke from inside the building.
The church's pastor said services went on as normal.
