Two Bellaire police officers who were sued for shooting an unarmed resident are no longer part of a civil lawsuit. On Monday, a judge released officers Jeff Cotton and John Edwards from the lawsuit. The city of Bellaire is now the only defendant.

Robbie Tolan filed the suit accusing the officers and the city of racial profiling stemming from a traffic stop four years ago.

Cotton was acquitted of using excessive force for shooting Tolan.
