The deadly hit-and-run happened around 11:30pm Saturday in the 13800 block of Tomball Parkway at Bammel North Houston in northwest Harris County.
Officials identified the victim as 48-year-old Lee Roy Alcozer.
According to deputies, Alcozer was walking south along the right side of Tomball Parkway when an SUV heading in same direction hit him.
Officials said the driver was last seen turning west onto North Houston Rossyln.
Alcozer was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies said at least two witnesses saw the incident happen. One man watched from across the street and tried to help Alcozer.
"I heard something say 'pow.' I seen people standing around, checked his pulse," witness David Walker said. "It happened so fast, I wanted to make sure he was alive. He was dead."
Authorities need help to catch the hit-and-run driver. They're looking for a Ford SUV, metallic green or silver in color with damage across the front. There were also parts of the SUV left at the scene.
