Plumbing work blamed for starting apartment fire

Plumbing maintenance work is blamed for starting a fire at a northwest Houston apartment complex.

Firefighters say workers had been trying to fix pipes in an empty unit at the First Oaks of Northwest Corners. Somehow the work heated the pipes and sparked a fire.

Firefighters responded just before 11pm Thursday. The empty unit and another empty unit next door to it were damaged.

Firefighters say the fire was minor.
