'Minor leak' at BP's Texas City plant contained

TEXAS CITY, TX

Texas City Homeland Security says a minor leak of hydrofluoric acid was reported around 8:30am Tuesday. There were no injuries and no offsite impacts.

We're told the acid is a by product of the gas distillation process at the BP plant. BP officials say air monitoring is in place in the community as well as at the fence line. Those monitors are not detecting any presence of hydrofluoric acid.

Texas City Emergency Management says they are watching the incident very closely and that no action is required at this time.
