HCSO unveils plan to increase patrol without tax increase

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is working on increasing its patrol abilities without costing taxpayers extra money.

Yesterday, the sheriff introduced a new program to work with local private security agencies. Participants will get training on how to better report problems directly to the sheriff's department. They will also help share information when the department is looking for specific suspects.

The private guards are not official law enforcement, but rather an extra tool for the department.
