Man found shot to death inside vehicle at southwest Houston apartment complex

The shooting happened late last night at the Royal Pines apartments on Gustine and Sapling Way.

A man was found shot to death in a southwest Houston apartment late Monday night.

It happened at the Royal Pines apartments in the 8700 block of Gustine Lane and Sapling Way at around 10pm Monday. Police say officers were dispatched to a shooting in-progress call at the apartment complex and were told by a man that his friend had been shot.

According to police, the man pointed to a gray car and officers approached it and found the victim deceased in the driver's seat. He had been shot multiple times.

Another neighbor says he saw a man running through the complex earlier in the night.

HPD is working on identifying the shooter through security camera footage.

The victim, Fredrick James Black Jr., 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no known motive nor suspect(s) at this time.
