Precinct 4 deputies say one man was shot as he was walking on Monteith at Goodfellow just after midnight.
A red car pulled up to the victim and someone fired a shot from inside. Deputies say what happened earlier in the day may have contributed to the shooting.
"There were some fights between some different individuals this evening and ended up in this situation here," said Lt. Michael Combest with Precinct 4.
The victim is in Ben Taub Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Deputies haven't found the gunman.
