The custodial staff spotted bats flying near Fleming Elementary on Bissonnet last week.
The district is inspecting and resealing the weatherproofing around the building as a precaution. According to the letter, a colony of bats lives under a bridge near the school property.
There are no reports of students or staff coming into contact with the animals.
