An appeals court may make it easier for a Texas City shelter owner to get her 186 cats back.

Police and animal control officers seized 186 cats living in deplorable conditions at the Whiskerville shelter in Texas City in January. A court said shelter owner Wydell Dixon would have to post a $27,000 bond to pay for the cats' care before a jury could hear the case.

The Galveston County Daily News reports an appeals court has issued a stay and may waive the bond.
