It appears today is the day the battle over red light cameras in Houston will finally come to an end.

The Houston City Council Wednesday morning approved a settlement that will end the city's dealings with the company that operates the cameras.

In the settlement between American Traffic Solutions and the city over a breach of contract, ATS would get about $4.8 million. In addition, the company would receive a portion of any funds the city collects from violators

With the vote passing, the red light cameras will be coming down within 60 days.

Both parties will meet with a federal judge Wednesday afternoon to finalize the deal.
