Officials said a K-9 police dog bit a suspect after a chase in northwest Houston.

According to police, it started around 1am Saturday when an officer spotted a car that had been reported stolen.

The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but authorities said the driver jumped out of the car near Carver and West Little York.

Police chased the suspect and called in a K-9 unit.

The dog tracked down the suspect in someone's backyard. Police said the dog bit the man before he could jump over a fence.

The suspect, who officials said was armed, is now in custody.
