A spokeswoman for electric provider Oncor says a transmission line supplying the Dallas area was down Thursday morning.
Alison Cox says most of the outages affected Grand Prairie, where about 6,000 customers lost electricity. She says customers are being rerouted to another line to restore service.
The National Weather Service says the Dallas area had freezing temperatures Thursday.
