Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that burned a home near Independence Heights in northwest Houston.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 1am Saturday at East 43rd Street near Yale Street.

They arrived to find a one-story house fully involved in flames. Officials said they went into defensive mode, fighting the blaze from the outside.

They eventually extinguished the flames, but the home was heavily damaged. It is unknown if anyone was home at the time of the fire.
