Fire guts family's home, injures firefighter

HOUSTON

Firefighters say flames were shooting from the roof of the one story house on Voss in Hunter's Creek Village when they arrived just after 2am Friday. Firefighters weren't able to enter the home until the roof collapsed.

The homeowner says the fire started in the garage and spread to the attic. He and his wife escaped safely after waking up to see the flames. He was treated for smoke inhalation and given oxygen on the scene.

"It appears it was between the master bedroom and the garage area, but we haven't had a chance to take a close look," said David Turner with the Village Fire Department.

A firefighter was injured after twisting his ankle fighting the fire, while another was treated for fatigue.

We're told everyone is expected to be OK.

Fire officials tell us the house is likely to be a total loss. Fire investigators are on scene looking into the cause of the blaze.
