Tobey Maguire, others settle over poker winnings

LOS ANGELES, CA

The "Spider-Man" star is one of 14 celebrities, businessmen and others who have agreed to monetary settlements that will be used to repay victims of the Ponzi scheme.

The people paying the settlements are not accused of being involved in the scheme.

The group won money from Bradley Ruderman, who was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

In all, 22 people were sued over the poker matches as a bankruptcy trustee sought to collect more than $4 million.

Maguire was sued to try to recoup $311,000 in winnings, but he noted in court filings that he also lost nearly $170,000 to Ruderman.
