The accident happened around 10:45pm Wednesday in northwest Harris County.
Investigators say the Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was about to turn onto Jones Rd. from F.M. 1960 when an SUV attempting to turn from Jones went wide and hit the trooper head-on.
The trooper was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.
The driver of the SUV is in custody and being tested for alcohol and drugs.
Charges are pending.
