The victim's brother told police he was in their home on Sherwood when he heard shots around 11:30pm Saturday.
He looked outside and saw his brother had been shot, and another man in a ski mask was standing over his brother's body.
The victim was shot in the head and taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.
The shooter ran away and remains on the loose.
