Teen shot in head outside Sharpstown-area night club

HOUSTON

It happened around 10:30pm Saturday at the Nuestra Raza club on Clarewood near Reims in the Sharpstown area.

Police say the shooting was likely gang-related and started when Julia Perez got into an argument with rival gang members inside a club.

Perez, 18, left Nuestra Raza with another young man and was walking the 7500 block of Clarewood. Police say a green or maroon sedan, possibly a Mitsubishi or Nissan, drove by and someone from inside the vehicle fired shots at Perez. The vehicle fled the scene.

The second man, whose identity is not known to investigators, was with Perez when he was shot, but fled the scene before police officers arrived. He is being sought by investigators as a possible witness in the incident. He was not hurt.

Perez was shot once in the head. At last check, he was listed in critical condition.

There is no word on any possible suspects in the shooting. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
