Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office organized food baskets for 32 families in east Harris County on Saturday.
Each basket has a raw turkey with all the trimmings and other Thanksgiving staples.
This is the ninth year that HCSO has distributed the food baskets.
Hundreds of people also showed up Saturday for a Thanksgiving event at Worthing High School in southeast Houston.
Students served hot meals and gave away 500 turkeys and 200 hens to families in Sunnyside.
Organizers say they were overwhelmed by the turnout. Seven hundred people came -- about twice as many as expected.
