$6.5 million judgement awarded to family of girl fatally struck by drunk driver

HOUSTON

Nicole "Lilly" Lalime had just stepped off her school bus when John Winne hit the bus and then her, in front of her home, back in December 2008. Winne was drunk and speeding.

Winne was sentenced to 30 years in prison and ordered to keep a picture of Lalime in his cell.

Lalime's family filed a civil lawsuit against Winne, even though they'll probably never see any of the money. The $6.5 million judgement was agreed to today by both sides.
