The Coast Guard has rescued two people from a sailboat that was sinking off Southeast Texas.

The rescue, using a Coast Guard helicopter to hoist the boaters to safety, happened Sunday night near the Port Aransas jetties.

The Coast Guard says the two people, with no reported injuries, were transported to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi to be examined.

Officials say the call for help came around 4:15 p.m. Sunday from the Majestic, a sailboat taking on water about 100 yards from the beach.

The Coast Guard says a rescue swimmer dropped near the boat assisted in getting the two people on board hoisted into the helicopter.
