Band director arrested for DUI while traveling on school business

BAYTOWN, TX

According to Kathy Clausen, Goose Creek ISD Director of Communications, Robert E. Lee High School band director Alec McGuire was arrested by authorities in San Antonio for suspicion of DUI on Monday. McGuire was there on school business, observing the State Marching Band Contest. He was not accompanied by students during his trip to San Antonio, and no students were present at the time of his arrest.

Upon his release, McGuire will be placed on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation of these allegations.

Clausen says the school district takes such allegations seriously and will conduct an internal investigation.

McGuire has been a teacher and band director in Goose Creek CISD for 18 years. Because this is an ongoing personnel matter, the district has no further comment at this time.
