Child hit by car in Fort Bend County

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX

The Texas Department of Public Safety was called out to the accident around 6pm Sunday on Texas 99 at Sandhill in the New Territory subdivision.

According to officials, a 13-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing Highway 99 on a bicycle.

Troopers said the child was wearing a helmet, but he was riding without reflectors and he was not in the crosswalk.

The driver stopped and stayed at the scene.

The child was rushed to an area hospital with unknown inuries.

Authorities are still investigating, but they say the young teen faces charges for crossing the highway outside a crosswalk. DPS troopers may also give the his parents a citation.
