Local surgeon suing to get ring from ex-fiancee

HOUSTON

According to a lawsuit filed this week in Harris County, Dr. Craig Fischer also wants Nichole Johnson to pay back $75,000 from a shared bank account and apartment lease. The lawsuit describes the funds as a gift "in contemplation of the parties' marriage."

Fischer, chief of digestive surgical oncology and associate professor of surgery at Methodist Hospital, tells the Houston Chronicle that he still cares for Johnson.

Johnson, an account executive for a financial services company, declined to comment about the lawsuit.

Fischer, Houston Surgical Society president, says he bought the 4.06-carat ring in early August and she broke off the engagement two days after their Sept. 10 engagement party.
