FBI: Violent crime down in Houston

HOUSTON

According to the FBI, there are fewer robberies, aggravated assaults, rapes and murders, compared to 2009. HPD Chief Charles McClelland says the decrease can be attributed to the city's 5,200 officers out on the streets. Crime experts have a number of theories for the decline, but no concrete explanation.

FBI figures showed violent crime decreased in many Houston-area cities as well, including Humble, Texas City, Santa Fe, League City, Pearland, Bellaire, Katy, Pasadena, La Marque and Baytown.
