It happened around 1:45am on Maxey at Fleming in east Houston.
The Houston Fire Department responded to a call and found a middle-aged man lying in the roadway. He was dead, officials said.
According to witnesses, the man had been hit by a pickup while trying to cross the four-lane Maxey Rd. at the intersection. Witnesses told police the man walked against the red light and the driver of the truck did not see him until it was too late.
The driver of the pickup truck stopped and waited for police to arrive. No charges are expected.
